Useful Measurement Conversions & Estimating Pool Capacity in Gallons
One gallon of water weighs 8.33 pounds
One cubic foot of water contains 7.5 gallons
Rectangular Pool: Capacity in gallons is equal to the length times the width times the average depth (in feet) times 7.5
L x W x D x 7.5 = gallons of water in pool
Round Pool: Capacity in gallons is equal to Pi (3.14) times the radius squared time the depth (in feet) times 7.5
3.14 x r2 x D x 7.5 = gallons of water in pool
Oval pool: Capacity in gallons is equal to length times width times average depth (in feet) times 7.5
L x W x D x 7.5 = gallons of water in pool
Chlorinating Your Pool
The HASA Liquidator® The easiest way to get a sparkling, clear, and clean pool is by using a liquid chlorine feeder like The Liquidator®. The Liquidator® is a chlorine feeder that is safer and cleaner than, and just as convenient as floating tablet feeders.
By attaching to and running off of your pool's pump, The Liquidator® saves you the trouble of having to worry about putting the right amount of chlorine into your pool every single day. And because The Liquidator® supplies your pool with liquid pool chlorine, it will reduce troubling high calcium levels as well as help to defend your pool against staining and scaling which will keep your pool sparkling and clear longer.
The Liquidator® also allows mineral salts and other dissolved solids to fall out of solution and remain in the unit for disposal. For keeping your pool constantly clean, HASA recommends The Liquidator®.

Liquid Chlorine vs Dry Chlorine
There are several advantages to choosing liquid chlorine (Sodium Hypochlorite) over a dry tablet system:
- First, it's far more soluble. Meaning it dissolves easily into the water, leaving you with clearer water faster.
- Second, it's easy to use. Simply pour the designated amount directly into the swimming pool. If you want to make things even easier, get a liquid chlorine feeder such as The Liquidator®. That way you will not have to change the chlorine for up to 4 weeks.
- Third, it works faster. In the water it immediately turns to Hypochlorous Acid, this is the killing form of chlorine, and it goes to work the second it's poured into the pool.
- Fourth, it's safer. You will not have to worry about having a tablet feeder floating around in your pool all of the time, which can be unsafe for children and pets.

Wipe Out Algae
When treating your pool with HASA Algi-control® to kill gross green and yellow algae, it is best to treat the water at the end of the day or early evening. Simply add Algi-control® along the pool edges, leave the filter running over night, then clean or backwash the filter the following day. This should be enough to eliminate the algae and prevent other algae growth. For even more effective cleaning power add one gallon of Algi-control® and follow it up with four gallons of HASA Sani-chlor®.

Stubborn Stains or Oil on Pool Tile
Stains on the sides of pool tile can be aggravating. To get rid of them, use HASA Tile Brite® with a stiff bristle brush or a plastic applicator pad. For tougher stains, scrub on Tile Brite® and then allow the solution to remain on the tile surface for about fifteen minutes. When that time is up, brush it again and the stains should simply lift away. Note: Tile Brite® will not remove calcium deposits on tile line.

A Better Acid Wash
Try adding HASA Super Stain-Out® to your acid washes. Super Stain-Out® will help the stain to release from the plaster. Just add 4 oz. of Super Stain-Out® to your acid wash solution. This Super Stain-Out® acid wash solution will amaze you with how quickly it will pull the copper stains out of white plaster. This solution will leave the plaster white after just one application. It's gentler on the plaster, and it's less labor and cost to you.

Targeting Spots on Bottom of Pool
Black Algae spots can be tough to get at, especially when it is on the bottom of the deep end of the pool. HASA Algi-ban® will do the trick, but if you want to make sure that you get the Hasa Algi-ban® directly where its needed, you can use a telepole or a long piece of PVC pipe.
Just put the pipe in the pool, pour a small amount of Algi-ban® down the pipe, and direct it to the spot. Rinse the pole or pipe after application.

How To Take A Water Sample
When taking a water sample, use a new bottle that is just for water samples (many local retail pool stores give water sample bottles for free). This may sound a little extreme but you should never use glass around a pool because of the possibility of accidental breakage around the pool area. And many plastics will absorb some of the products that were in them.
Because many of the test are measuring levels in the parts per million or parts per billion just a tiny residue can change the test results giving false readings. False readings can cause you to make the wrong adjustments wasting time and causing you to purchase products you don’t really need.
Water samples should be taken from the deep end of the pool as far down into the water as you can safely reach. Take the sample to the pool store right away. Storing the sample or leaving the sample in a hot car while you do “other errands” will degrade the sample.
